P.S. After several years managing it as both a stand-alone application, and one distributed thru Steam, the developers are dropping the stand-alone version. I understand the reasons: it was extra work, and Steam is a handy system for distributing software and – importantly – handling the digital-rights-management on it. I don’t play video games, so I’ve never used Steam before, so installing it has been a bit of a learning experience. I don’t want to dwell on it, but it dumps some cruft on your computer that runs all the time, and you might want to disable if you aren’t using the program much.

I read this decades ago and it was basically what we farm boys did when bored. Besides all the skinny dipping and experimental sex stuff in the woods or barn. I gave copies to parents and children I knew of either gender, but most found it too much. I’d thought of it then as some sort of bush league variant of Baden-Powell’s derelict guide for over-infantalized young gentlemen much like the Boy Scout manual. But never thought of it as a movie?
This is sort of depressing as I think about it now. My life on very backwoods 1950s farms in New Hampshire, Quebec, and the Adirondacks with my father’s (17 siblings) farm relatives encompassed so much more than was in that book which was publicized as sort of a young survivalist’s guide for modern times, imho.
Ugh!

I’ve been rethinking that as well. My Twitter is not the problem, but fb has bounced me regularly for my #JFC meme, etc.; all of which appears more like they’re censoring based on ‘sacrilege’ not nudity or sexual depictions?!
But my own WordPress has been about as dormant as my dick at my age! I figure I only have a very few years at most to piss off the world. My goal is to survive until 2019 for NYC for Stonewall 50 & the Stonewall Veterans float. After that……
But thanks, Jason, for a better idea.

I actually just let my child read this, specifically because she needs to begin thinking about these things and learning to put it into context. I can’t shield her forever and I’d rather she hears about it first the right way instead of the wrong way. She had no idea what “faggot” meant and when I explained it to her, she had the reaction we’d hope for – an uncivilized word for the small minded. It’s a new generation!
